Innocence II: Their Fate is in Our Hands

Innocence II, 56 x 44 inches, unmounted

This piece is one that has been looming in my mind for awhile, and really started to come through to me after the Santa Fe School shooting in Texas. Until recently, children may not have been aware of the threats. But with school shootings on the rise, and active shooter drills, even schools aren’t safe. As I started to imagine how this piece would come together, I came across photos of happy children, groups of children, sad children, immigrant children, refugee children, and starving children. Innocence I & II are for ALL children, and asks the viewer to consider how we as adults can take responsibility for protecting the most vulnerable among us.
