Seeking Allocasuarina Enamel Painting

Seeking Allocasuarina

$750.00

In stock

I was struck by the videos and photos coming out of the Australia Bush Fires in 2019-2020 and started a mini series of enamel paintings.  Seeking Allocasuarina features two Glossy Black Cockatoos

The Glossy Black Cockatoos are an endangered bird in Australia. Loss of habitat (climate change, deforestation, fires), and loss of food source are the main reasons for their low numbers. Since 1995, when recovery efforts started, the population of the Glossies has slowly grown from roughly 150 to almost 400.

DETAILS:

Painted using vitreous enamels. Each layer is fired in the kiln prior to the painting of the next layer. The base glass is salvaged glass that came from old store shelving.

MOUNTED SIZE: 24 x 18 x 1 5/8 inches

Permanently mounted to a professional birch and pine cradle board and wired for easy hanging.  The supported cradle board has been painted black and sealed with micro-crystalline wax.
